The British Museum was founded in 1753 and attracts nearly 6 million visitors each year. Highlights of the museum's collection include artifacts from Ancient Egypt, Rome and Greece, along with pieces from across Europe, the Middle East and Asia. The museum's much anticipated Fra Angelico to Leonardo Italian Renaissance Drawing Exhibition will also be on at the same time as our conference.
Perhaps the most recognisable architectural component of the museum is the Queen Elizabeth II Great Court designed by Foster and Partners, which has transformed the Museum’s inner courtyard into the largest covered public square in Europe. It is a two-acre space enclosed by a spectacular glass roof with the world-famous Reading Room at its centre.
The British Museum's unique grade-one listed public galleries are complemented with a suite of contemporary, state-of-the-art conference facilities, designed by Lord Foster.
The conference area is located underneath the Great Court, and is very easy to find. Upon entering the museum, walk straight ahead into the Great Court. There you will find signage and uniformed museum staff to guide you to stairs on either side of the entrance which lead down to the conference facilities.
