The Conference Agenda
The conference will be held at the British Museum in London on Wednesday 21 July 2010. With the flexibility of starting your day at either 9.00am or 9.30am, the event has been designed to suit you. Spaces are limited though, so an early sign-up is recommended.
Your Morning
We've listened to you and using your feedback created an agenda around your requirements. This will kick-off with morning presentations from leading industry speakers, including an interactive Q&A session with a panel of experts:
- Paul Stobart, CEO, UK and Ireland - Welcome and Introduction.
- Julian Hatt, Customer and Stakeholder Engagement, HMRC, Business Tax Programme - Focusing on the CT Online/iXBRL aspects of Lord Carter of Coles’ 2006 Report: Review of HMRC Online Services and offering a reassuring insight into HMRC’s approach towards transitional measures and extraneous developments (such as the ASB’s proposal for small and medium enterprises) that are impacting on the implementation of iXBRL.
- Spencer Kelly, Presenter and Technology Expert, BBC's 'Click' - An insight into business technology - covering everything from using technology to keep in contact with your clients, to taking advantage of emerging technologies to enhance your practice.
- Heads of R&D for both Practice Suite and the 50 Accounts family will give an insight into the Sage roadmap, strategy and vision. In addition, an open panel of R&D, Jayne Archbold and Product Management will take part in a Q&A session to respond to your posted questions (register to post your questions).

After lunch you will be able to tailor your own agenda to reflect your interests. Registering for the event will enable you to pre-book workshop sessions on a variety of topics and exclusive museum tours, including:
- XBRL - Sage Roadmap – An overview of the Sage XBRL compliance roadmap, timeframes and Accounts Production/ Corporation Tax Software.
- Influence the Sage product roadmap - An opportunity to learn how you can shape the Sage product roadmap. In this session, you will get a good understanding of how you can become an influential BETA customer, and as a taster get the first glimpse of the latest workflow and job stage tracking functionality in the Sage Practice Solution software.
- 50 Accounts Suite Overview – Overview of the Sage 50 Suite including 50 Accounts, Payroll, HR and CIS software.
- Launch of 50 Accounts 2011 - Learn about the latest features and benefits of Sage 50 Accounts 2011.
- 50 Accounts - Future Roadmap - An opportunity to shape the future roadmap of Sage 50 Accounts. An interactive workshop to discuss future developments and provide input to future versions.
- Accounting Standards Board - IFRS for SME'S /Microentities - Michelle Sansome - Project Director at the ASB will provide an overview of Accounting Standards Boards plans and timelines for IFRS for SME'S and MIcroentities.
- Companies House - Online Filing - Jack Mansfield - Director of Accountancy Profession will give an indepth overview of Companies House eFiling plans and future developments.
- Cloud Computing? What, Why and How? - An interactive workshop on the pros and cons of Cloud Computing. What is it, and how will it impact your practices. We also want to understand your thoughts and how Sage could support you on this.
- The Ancients - Enjoy a whistle stop tour of the ancients. Egypt - Visit the infamous Rosetta Stone and the colossal statue of King Amenophis III. Assyria - Winged Bulls from Khorsabad and Lion Hunt reliefs from Nineveh and finally visit Greece and the Parthenon.
- The Enlightenment Gallery - Visit the oldest object in the museum, the stone tool from the Rift Valley in Tanzania. Move on to theRegency Room and its displays from the original Sloane collection and the copy Rosetta Stone. Finally visit the Living and Dying gallery with a special focus on the Easter Island sculpture and the colossal statue of King Ramesses II.
- The British highlights - Firstly view the late Roman silver tableware hoard "Mildenhall Treasure before you move on to the early Anglo-Saxon Sutton Hoo ship and burial treasure of a King of East Anglia. Finally visit the Lewis Chessmen from Scotland and the spectacular Royal Gold Cup made for a 14thC King of France and then gifted to King Henry VI of England.
Your early evening
The day will be rounded off by the Sage Accountants Awards 2010 awards presentation ceremony, hosted by Nick Hewer from BBC TV’s The Apprentice and Jayne Archbold, Managing Director of Accountants' Division . If you haven’t yet entered for an award, we’d encourage you to do so, to be in with the chance of winning.
The awards ceremony will be followed by a drinks reception to provide you with a chance to network with other attendees in an informal environment.
